The lug for these must exactly fit the existing machine head hole and they actually bind into the wood if the head. The face screws also do not align w most 6-inline existing holes. For retro/upgrading - I recommend the Grover 406C6 mini-locking machines instead. They thru-slip and the face screw holes align w most current. I've had the 406's on a telecaster type guitar for… read more a few weeks now and love them. Easy to install, easy and fast to string, beautifully tight/positive tuning and hold.
